Another Carb question. (sorry)

I have began the process of dismantling my carbs. While inspecting one of them I noticed the by pass tube tip (bottom) looks
bent or smashed. How do I remove the tube ? Its the one that goes through middle of carb chamber towards float. If the tip is
bent or closed what effect will this have ? Should I replace ? This is also the lower carb that had been leaking.

The long skinny brass tube is called the fuel by-pass tube. The function is to provide fuel from the bowl to the idle mixture port, which is controlled by the idle fuel-air mixture screw.

How do I remove it ? The lower end looks damaged kind a pinched off.

There is a plug on top of the carb you have to remove to get access to it. And then it needs to be unscrewed while others are just simply pressed in. If the lower end can be fixed by inserting a metal pick to open up the pinch portion, I'll recommend doing it that way instead of removing it. Item 6 is the plug cap while item 8 is the by pass tube on this pic.

Hm, I will give it try to see if I can open it up without having to remove it. IF by chance I need to remove and replace it
would it best to use a small bit and drill that tiny cap out ? I don't see any other way due to the size of it. I am going to
locate a small pick and give that a try first. Thanks for the help !

Before you drill the cap, make sure you order a replacement one first. You can also order the by pass tube as part of the repair kit. Personally, I will try to straighten it out using pins or picks.

The welch plug needs to be drilled and then a pic inserted and twist it and it comes out.
Don't drill too deep.
When reassembling use a sealer on the top.
​Product called Indian Head Shellac works well.

The tube was bent too bad to use a pick or anything else on to straighten out. Will have to be drilled out for sure.
I'll use the smallest bit I have to drill it out. Im assuming another stupid screw up by the previous owner or his
so called mechanic. Probably the same guy that allowed the straw to be sucked into the carbs. Once I srill
it and remove the plug will the tube just come out or is it screwed in ? I tried to turned it since I knew I was
gonna have to drill it. And the tube doesn't turn. @jerryjerry got it and responded thanks

Probably because of the sealant on the top end. You will need to remove the welch cap first and see what else is holding it.

Used a small bit to drill and pulled out the cap and the tube came out. I can not figure out how the heck anyone bent that tube like that.
I can only think maybe they jammed a screw driver too big or wrong type in there not knowing what they were doing. I'm kind a glad
they did this cuz it shows me how messed up things can get if not careful.

Great. So now back to the original fuel leaking from the front. I do not believe this by-pass tube interferes with the float movement since it's located inside the main jet tube. While at it, check the overflow vent hole on the side of the carb make sure it is open to the atmosphere.

Will do jiggz and thanks again. Surprisingly the carbs are fairly clean but I know stuff could be hiding.

Just wanted to give an update on this . I did manage to use a small (very small) drill bit and then used a pick to remove the plug.
Then the tube slid out the top. There are no threads that hold the tub in place. The tube is actually beveled at the top and the hold
get smaller so that is what hold the tube in place. I dropped in the new tube and tapped the new tiny plug in place and I used some
of the Indian Head Shellac that jerryjerry mentioned to seal it up. Everything is new except the float as it looked good. I have finally
got both carbs together and will throw them on the motor this afternoon and make the adjustments and hopefully she fires up.
I cleaned everything and I used air to blow out everything as well. I even used a small wire as suggested to get into some small
places to make sure everything was cleaned out. Crossing my fingers she cranks up and runs great !
