Hello all

I've just replaced the trim sender and limiters on my boat.
84 Chaparral 198xlc
Merc 5.0 Alpha
When putting the bolt/pivot pins back in that the sending units mount on I torqued the port one to 95 ft/lbs as the instructions with the senders said to. No Problem, torque wrench clicked at 95, when doing the same thing on the starboard side it felt like a bolt does just before you've overtightened it and it slips and strips the threads. Has anyone had this happen? I stopped before I did strip anything, and I feel like the torque was very close to 95. There is a slight gap between the ring and the housing the pins are threaded into. Should there be a gap here, if so how much? If I did almost strip the threads and they let go later is there any way to fix this or is this a junk it and buy a new part situation? I'm an Automotive mechanic and I've figured out that I don't know anything about boats and need HELP!!!

Thanks in advance
Lawrence
