I have a 1993 3.0L Mercruiser. The throttle only button is stuck and won't work. I have tried taking it apart and spraying WD40 both through the button plunger and from the backside, where the shift/throttle cables come in. I have also tried taking a small screwdriver and trying to pry the plunger with no luck. Any suggestions are welcome. If I have to get a new controller, please suggest which model would work best. I'd like to swap them out with the least effort. I have attached photos to help you out.

Thanks!

Have you had the control out in the open where you can work on it?

Have you tried disconnecting the cables AT THE engine?

Control boxes are frustrating but they can be beat, sometimes!

Mercury had a recall on alot of Commander 3000, which looks like what you have. That was around '95 - '96 & I don't recall how far back (previous years) the recall went. Regardless they won't help now.

You can buy a C/B here or from mercury. Merc would be pricier but you may have get new also.

Anyone else have any ideas? I'm having trouble finding a Commander 3000 if I need to replace it? Would a Commander 4000 be an easy swap, or would it require new shift/throttle cables?

Thanks!

You would need new cables.
