5.7 vortec /alpha 1 gen1 sei outdrive, i have had outdrive off and back on about 10 times with no issue ,this time had to put new impeller on, no problems there ,but when i put outdrive on ,all went well ,but when i try to shift the cable or shifter will not move from forward position ,,with outdrive back off ,shifter and cable move freely( no binding) ,also when i went to take outdrive off ,it did not come off easy actually had never had outdrive be so stubborn to get off ,even after i got past the studs the yoke was hard to pull out. Any ideas what im doing wrong or miissing, also why outdrive was on and shifter cable was freed from interupt/ shift bracket cable would not move

Ayuh,...... Sounds like it slipped outa forward as you stabbed the drive on,.....
I use a bungee strap from the cav-plate, 'round the prop shaft, back to the cav-plate to hold tension on the prop shaft, to hold it in forward,....

Hey, @newtoboat101
You caused quite a stir last year after running your drive in a tub instead of muffs. Did that fry your impeller?

lol, last winter took my outdrive off as i do every winter ,got ill,so i amjust getting back to putting outdrive on and its giving me problems, now to your question ,during the winter broke outdrive apart and checked impeller ,didnt look bad at all ,but all ready had taken apart so put new one in , so i would say it was not damaged from running in a tub .

IIRC that was in the tub for a while. If it wasn't getting water should have been toast.
