This is similar to Rubberfrogs post:

I have been doing some guiding, and am ready to go this year also. My Bass boat is in the 17-18' class, dual console. Not the most roomy boat you ever saw. Poor rod storage and not a lot of storage period.

Anyway, I have found a 1994 Ranger I would like to have, 20', 225 Merc,Dual consol, price is right, $12,000.00 and its clean as a pin and very low hours. I figure that I can sell my boat for about $5,000.00 and pay the extra. We have the money to pay cash even before selling my boat. Which would mean having two boats for awhile. Also no guarantee that I could sell mine.

I am the king of my house hold, and I can do what I want, Right!!! NOT!!! Guess I have lost my cahonies as I cant even talk to her about it yet????????????????????????????

Tell her you lost a client because you dont have enough room in your boat :) Or you could do like me wanting s#x and beg :D They'll eventually give in.

Sounds like you need to become a salesman, LD! And your wife would be the one you need to pitch it to.

Sounds like the Ranger would fit your current needs a little better. Ranger builds a nice boat IMO. Lots of storage and good fit and finish.

No go sell it to her!

Wasn't there something that your old boat doesn't meet the criteria for guiding? Or your insurance can't cover your guiding with the size boat you have now? Or a couple more seats means more income? There has got to be an excuse somewhere that you can use.

Uh, maybe this one, the new boat gets 10 times better gas mileage? Good Luck BF/LD! :D

Do as I sometimes do, I ask her how much does she love me. I mean "Really" love me, then you make your pitch. And to think your MIL has not even come into the picture.

And a big fat ring also. :D

BF I say just go buy it. Remember, it is easier to ask for forgivness, than to ask for permission. :D

Im always looking for a new boat, even take the wife to look also. This way when I do run across "the deal of a life time" to her its not a spur of the moment thing. My defense is well you knew I was looking. Now.....Where do you want me to park this one? :D

It does seem reasonable that you could make more money with a nicer rig. Nicer boat and equipment = more clients.

How could she say no to that? That is a very slick lookin boat!
Dont offer gifts of diamonds yet. You dont want to spring for a diamond necklace, when a set of gold earings will do. Best plan is to just ask, then beg, then start with small gifts. :D
