motor runs great for maybe half a day or more then loses power, won't idle well and will only do about 3mph if you can get it past the stall point going into gear.

Hi DWB

Sounds like it's fuel related. Try filling your tank back up when this happens and see if it runs good again. I'm thinking there may be a problem with your in-tank fuel pick-up. You may have a crack toward the top of it(The pickup) and it becomes a problem by sucking air into the fuel line as the fuel level goes down. Are you running a built-in tank or portables?

A buddy of mine had a similar problem with his 50HP last year. It would run half the day and shut off.
In this case, we found 6 or more loose fuel connections around the intake, pump, and carb lines. Quick fix was to replace all the fuel connections with 1/4" tie-wraps.
Basically, he would loose prime and didn't think to pump the bulb hard again.

As for the 3mph, you could also only be running 1 or 2 cylinders until the airlock clears.

Just a thought.

No overheat alarm, portable plastic tank but a large one, I think maybe 60 litres or thereabouts..
It does sound fuel related........is there a chance it may be power pack or stator??

thanks guys

Not if it runs good for a half a day. Why not look into what we suggest? It may just work....At least pick up a 6 gallon tank and try it.
