The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I have performed sync and link on 95 Ocean Pro 150 twice in the past 3 months. Runs great for 3 or 4 fishing trips than loses timing and timing knock returns at 3000+ rpms ?
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Ed
I have the same motor, only 175 HP. I haven't had to mess with the timing yet. What is moving to change the timing? The flywheel key may be sheared and the flywheel is moving on the shaft? Mine has that little black piece on top of the timing arm that says + and -. I don't know what that does yet.
You're right, if its set right it shouldn't move, sheered woodruff key or...check the throttle pickup roller gap.
See this , for 60deg 6 cyls. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=357667
Went back and adjusted spark/throttle to spec. Roller now comes in contact with arm. Will water test tomorrow. Do you think this could have been problem?
Finally got boat in water this afternoon, changed plugs. Boat still has timing knock between 3500 rpm and 5000. Anything before 3500 - no knock, Anything after 5000 no knock. Any other ideas?
Thanks
ED
Then consider it might not be timing, do a compression test and try a timing light when it starts knocking on eaqch plug wire, it might be dropping spark.
This only occurs under a load, could this be Stator, ignition coil, powerpack, optic eye?
I am a small mobile mechanic, and have a good relationship with local Johnson/Evinrude marina and we are stumped.
Checked compression,110 on all 6, Any ideas?
tired of throwing money at this engine. Every time I time it, she runs great for a while, then starts knocking.
