My motor is Model 9P-699, Serial J3091236. It needs a new seal for lower unit to keep water out. The seal is located near the prop. As you can probably tell I am an amateur but my brother-in-law will help me if I can find the part. I just bought this motor used last Spring. It ran fairly well but when oil drained out of lower unit to winterize, it was the color of cream.

That wouldn't be a Johnson 9R-69 would it? If so, that's a '69 9.5hp engine. You can get a seal kit from your Johnson/Evinrude dealer, or from NAPA (Part #18-2683 from their marine catalog). Several online parts dealers carry the same kit. It has the driveshaft, propshaft, shift shaft, spagetti, fill and vent screw seals and orings you'll need. Part #18-2023 is the individual propshaft seal.
Iboats carries repair manuals. I personally prefer the Seloc one. Your local library may have one too. This is a job for which you really want to have a manual in hand. Get one - you'll thank yourself for it.

Good luck!
