8hp Honda year

Can anyone tell me the year of an 8hp Honda 4-stroke with the serial number 1000939?<br />Thanks for any help on this.

Is it a BF8? I have one that I bought in 1989 new & also have a manual for same. My motor is grey with a white cover with logo. I will look in the manual. direct email is cjbear@chartermi.net.
