Sorry to make my first post concerning what seems to be a common thread but a search of old messages didn't get me quite where I need to be. All bolts are free and my lower unit dropped down slightly and moves freely up and down and side to side. I pulled the cotter pin on the shift linkage and freed the linkage.

It was a little stiff and I moved the linkage back and forth in freeing the connection. I don't know what gear the lower unit is in now. It seems like the shift linkage or drive shaft is my problem but my manual is of no help as the new(to me) motor is one year newer than where my old manual stops. I'll pick up a new manual when I head into town for parts. In the meantime, any help appreciated.

Thanks to All,
Hu
