87 50hp force tilt and trim modification

HI All
My question is can you take a tilt and trim and mounting bracket. (transon motor pivit mount). from a later 50hp force motor like a 1991 or so and mount it on a early model 1987 50hp force. Im talking about changing the transom mount and all.

i seriously doubt that 1987 kingpin or steering arm will work with a 1991 swivel bracket and transom clamps. It would be easier to keep your clamps and mount a mercury 9HP tilt tube. If you want trim then either take your engine off boat and remount onto something like the CMC or get a factory original. The original may be more difficult to find, but it just slips right into place and works. With the original there is no reason to take engine off boat or modify the mounts or anything. It fits like it was made for the engine.
