86 90Hp Crossflow Water pump

so what started as a simple L/U seal fix ended up in this. Have no idea how long this thing has been run before they he brought it to me. Going to run a compression in the morning and see if its even worth fixing. Is it correct to assume the whole water pump assembly is shot? is the housing worth using again? notice the pin hole in the top of it.

No harm in replacing the entire water pump.
Give the basic health check before investing in it though.
Compression
Spark
Fuel delivery
Spark plug condition

new plugs, motor actually starts and idles fine. Only found what is left of this water pump after the tell-tale didn't deliver. Going to do compression in the morning. whats the spec on this motor? 80-100? consistent of course.
