I have a 1986 Mercury 120 I/O.
I have replaced my belt every year and find that I need to adjust the tension almost every time I go out. I have set the deflection to abt 1/2". Is this right? I have also replaced the alternator pully, this helped some. I have been told that there is a revised alternator bracket available. Does anyone know what I should look for?

Welcome to iboats......:)
Don't know of a different bracket, but that does not mean it doesn't exist......
Is the crank pulley free of rust?.......

anyone else have an idea on this? I have heard that boats generate an extreme range of RPM's over a short time frame and that can lead to vibration, hence the alleged upgraded alternator bracket.
