85 Johnson Starter Bolts

I took my cover off yesterday and noticed a bolt on the side of the engine that had backed out. Then I noticed that the threads were boogered up. Then when I tried rethreading it, it was stripped.<br />While doing this I also noticed that the long bolt on top of the flywheel that bolts into the starter was backed out and stipped too! Only have one bolt holding the starter on.<br /><br />Can I retap both of them to a larger size?<br />Any suggestions?

Maybe,but will the larger bolt fit through the starter holes? I would use heli-coils in the motor with some new bolts of the same size.

Thanks for the advice. Hadn't even thought of that. That should fix me right up.
