Hi first post to this group, although I had an Islander for many years.

On my '84 221V Islander, I need to replace the Plexiglas (or acrylic) windows in the cabin, which are badly weather checked and leaking. After striking out with Sartcraft and Taylor, I thought I might take the old model to a glass shop to get a copy fabricated. I took out the machine screws along the one side and top surfaces, but it's not obvious what happens next. Has anyone completed this repair. I would hate to force something that is actually locked in underneath.

Picture attached. I have removed screws along right & top.

Thanks for the help.

Re: 84 Islander - Cabin acrylic window replacement

I have the same problem with my Chieftan, I plan on replacing mine with tinted automotive safety glass. Find a street rod building shop near you and they can direct you on where to get this done. They are a little pricey to have made but you will not have the same problems again. As far as taking it out I haven?t dug into mine yet, I?m sure there has got to be a way though, unless they built the boat around the window ;o)
