83 150 vs 1978 225

hi ihave a 150 on a 17 ft mckee im going to tear down 150 and repair ticking noise but im in process of building shop . i have a chance to buy a really clean
and stong 1978 225 is there going to be a weight diff i know that the hp rating is off but was thinking of running it on my boat till i finish my 150.
in my area there are not a lot of probs with running over powered boats and i know my limits my cocerns are lugging due to not being able to run at wot
but i think i could reprop and maybe a weight diff it will be easier to sell this motor on my boat
