I am considering if I should buy this immaculate boat. My concern is can parts be found for the 165 in line 6 mercruiser to rebuild this engine? I think it is a GM. Inline 6 cylinder. Can starters, fuel pumps & tune up parts still be bought for this. Or is there a engine swap in case this one dies at some point. It is a 18 ft walk through windshield low hours 1977 mark Twain boat
That seems to run well. & well maintained. I have contacted a few marinas who will not work on boats this old & said parts would be a big issue. Any words of wisdom for a newbie boater wannabe?

Welcome, there should be no problem getting parts for the motor.
It is a GM inline 6 so no problem getting it rebuilt if ever needed.

Some of the parts may be harder to find for the drive but most if not all are available. The regular maintenance items are not hard to find.

Best to get a manual and repair it yourself if and when needed.

Thank you, I have rebuilt some car engines back in the 70’s & 80’s myself. So I believe with a manual I should be fine. Again thanks for your answer. Helps me make my decision.
