The engine model is 50273-C, serial E0011616. The engine seems to run fine but the prop doesn't spin. Forward/Neutral/Reverse are selected via push buttons on the throttle console. The console says 'selectric' on it...must be solenoid control of some sort. I don't think the gears are stripped 'cause I don't hear any bad noises when I try to engage...nothing happens at all. Suggestions, anyone?

Hello,<br /> Get out the old 12v. test light and see if those buttons in the control head are getting power....?If not check all your connections and make sure you have a good battery to start. If its less than 12v. then who knows... :)

Some old omc elec shift models had strange elec connections where the foot and head wire joined. The rubber would get brittle and come off the wire, then short and not let you change gears. Sometimes it would do this and pop out of gear. Easy to check and repair. I had a Johnson 75 that did it and I sealed the wires with hi-temp silicone to fix the problem. Those wires are stainless strand.
