Ireally need to know the year of this motor J2422884 Can any one help

I have an old Evinrude 5.5 which pumps water out of an opening in the back of the lower leg located about 10 or 12 inches down from the powerhead. This is called a tell tale and if no water comes out when your motor is running, your water pump needs repair - probably a new impeller at the least. You should NOT run this motor at all if it is not pumping a good spray of water out this opening. You will overheat the motor and do rapid severe damage.

Post the model number here and someone will tell you the year. I don't have the list of the model numbers - I think there is a website that has this; someone may give you that information also. Get a manual before you try doing any work on your motor. Good Luck!

I dont have the model # but the Serial# is <br />J 2 4 2 2 8 8 4 Do you know the year ?

Sorry Ranroc, I was hoping you could find the model number. I do not knowof a way to get the year from the serial number.
