Hi new here. I recently purchased two good 4 cylinder IO's and would like to use one in a displacement hull for a work boat. Straight inboard. What do I look for , Type of bellhousing? coupler? transmission. Do 6cylinder and v8 parts interchange? The engines are the early motors based on the chevy 153 c.i. auto engine. Thanks Thom

The engines are the early motors based on the chevy 153 c.i. auto engine.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,...

Those motors use the same standard bellhousing/ flywheel cover Chevy bolt pattern as every other Chevy, since the 50s...

I don't mess with straight inboards so much, but I'm sure Gear Ratio still comes into play with the I4, vs. I/V6, vs. V8...

You will need a 14in flywheel, inboard coupler, and bellhousing for Velvet Drive trans, as well as a high mount starter. All of this interchanges with Chev V8s, but you will need a pre 86' (2 piece main seal) flywheel. 'nutcase
