Re: 350 flywheel housing issues
Hi nameless and fone_man,

Your posts about the Glasspar took me back. Please enjoy the random thoughts remembering.

Cranking up the Wayback Machine... Glasspars were beautiful boats, especially the Seafairs and G3's

In Jr. High all we had to ski with was a 14' Dunphy rowboat and a Merc 150 (15hp). 35 hp was a luxury for us. Our neighbor had a 14' Winner & 35 Johnson. He'd pop right up on a slalom ski. He was also 70! Gas & oil was $.48/gal. Gulf unleaded & Quicksilver oil.

We learned patience with that rig. Also lost a few bathing suit tops on the slow way up! (hehheh)...

Tubing? No. Raft-O-Planing. Using a canvas blow-up surf mat and a ski rope, you laid on your stomach, elbows down in the mat -- it bent the "bow" up -- and flew along the water. Ha! Jump the wake and lose the bow up thing and you got a face-full... and lost your top again... (thanks Tina!!). I guess some things haven't changed ;-].

Merc The Lion Hearted would also plane the boat, 2 people, AND a 19' Flying Scot sailboat in tow.

Of course, we were in salt water and floated higher... and weighed 60 pounds less... ;-}

Ahh, the smell of Quicksilver smoke in the morning, mixed with the aroma of a freshly creosoted piling in the sun... & salt air... and, yes, low tide!

No, I never walked 10 miles to school in a snowstorm. <chuckle>. Thanks for jogging the memories. Mike
