Man! looks like that monster could bite your leg off! Too bad they had to kill the thing, but I guess there's plenty of them. We see lots of Gars on the Saint Johns river in Florida but the biggest I've seen is about 4 feet long and I don't think they're real Alligator Gars like that one!

Even though its not going to be judged any sort of record, I believe the guy ought to get some kind of credit for getting the damn thing in the boat! ! ! By himself he wrestled a 327 lb. fish that was 8 feet long and had a mouth full of teeth in to his boat on open water ! That in it self should count for something. Dont yall think??

I swear i saw a fish of similar size 20 yrs ago in a local river.But we arent supposed to have alligator gars in our area.It was bigger around than a telephone pole and about 7 ft long.maybe it was a gator.

I just don't see how an average size guy could haul that big ugly thing up into his boat, but I agree he deserves some kind of prize! Reckon he's having that sucker mounted to go over the fireplace?...bet the wife would LOVE that!...

I wonder how many nets that fish shredded over the yrs.it must have been 100+yrs old!!How many "almost caught it"?Or released it 50 yrs ago?

Ok, so does that mean that those that catch Gar on a line attached to a floating liter bottle are not eligible for the record books either? Just Wondering because you guys down there have a few different ways of catching fish that I'm not sure are really fish, just so you know anything I pull out of the water and then need to shoot with my hunting rifle is in my eyes not really a fish.....
