I looked in the manuals but I can't find, what type of gear oil uses a Mercruiser Alphaone Gen II and what type of liquid does the power trim motor use?

Re: 3.0LX fluid question

To be more specific, what weight of oil does the sterndrive use, ex. 75-90, 85-90?
Also the trim, does it use transmission fluid or oil, or can it use both, right now it has transmission fluid.

Re: 3.0LX fluid question

The gear lube from Merc. is 75 90. And as far as trim fluid you want to use one single type, don't mix diffrent fluid types. So suck out all old fluid and use only one type. It's oil, with a die in it. Use a cheap turkey baster to suck out old fluid from tank and purse lines etc..

Re: 3.0LX fluid question

The previous owner told me he used transmission fluid, I checked the manual but can't find if it uses atf or oil, its a 1995 Alphaone Gen II. Thanks for the info on the oil weight.

Re: 3.0LX fluid question

People have used ATF, but so thin it might leak from areas, so just use trim fluid.
