After this weekend, only 1 race left in the regular season. Later today, Trucks have their first playoff race tonight at Gateway. X-Men and Cup are still looking for the final playoff drivers at Michigan. The weekend schedule;




News and Notes

• Larson and Elliott start on the front row.
• Corey LaJoie will not compete at Michigan due to COVID. Josh Berry will replace him in the #7.
• TWT's spotter is out this weekend for a positive COVID test. No word if he's vaxxed.
• Christopher Bell tested the Next Gen car at Bristol on Wednesday.
• Nascar is increasing COVID protocol beginning this weekend to minimize contact between teams, team guests and fans.
• Indy penalties - Only one loose Cup lugnut, but a major in X-Men for Ryan Sieg losing a wheel early in the X-Race. His crew chief got a 4 race suspension.
• NBC earned a 1.8 rating and 2.831 million viewers for Sunday's Verizon 200 , down from a 2.7 rating and 4.343M viewers for 2020 Brickyard 400.
  
  This year's race, which started hours earlier than 2020 Brickyard 400, was still the highest-rated sport event of the weekend.

Almost forgot about the Truck race. With 11 laps left in the first heat, Zane Smith is leading under yellow.

With 5 lap to in heat 1, Creed passes Smith and wins the 1st heat.

Creed holds the lead on the restart.

The night the lights went out in Gateway. Two laps after the 2nd heat green flag, the lights went out. Under red flag.

After the 3rd heat green flag, Sort of a mini big one with 8 trucks involved. Creed still the leader.
