I didnt use 2020 Benninton Pontoon boat with 90hp Yamaha for a month and a half. It was in the marina slip covered. Went to start and nothing. Went to boost pack start it and it gave an error that the polarity was reversed or that the cables were backwards. They were not though and the pack wouldn't attempt to start. Put a new Interstate battery in and trim worked. I turn the switch and buzzing. The starter gear raises and engages flywheel but doesn't spin it. Flywheel will turn by hand and the starter gear will drop back down. Any ideas? 50 hours on the motor. Hitatchi starter. Boat dealer says 60 days for a starter from Japan. Dead in slip, hasn't been on the computer yet. Thanks for reading.

Track down the buzzing sound you're hearing, could be a bad/loose connection arcing. Measure the voltage at the starter while cranking, I'm guessing you will find low voltage.

I would have tried to charge and test the old battery.
but measuring the battery voltage before and while trying to start it may help point to a problem
also measuring the voltages at the starter and starter relay may point to a problem with a cable, connection, or battery switch if you have one

It was a negative cable, not connected at all to the battery post. One of four was not hooked up after replacing the battery. Dang it. Totally my doing. Hooked it up and it runs again. Wish I hadn't beat on the starter now. Lol. Thanks for the help.
