With the new Nascar 2020 pre-pandemic schedule, Homestead was moved to mid-season and no longer hosts the final race of the year. With the pandemic causing upheaval and a schedule shake up, 4 races are on tap this weekend. Saturday and Sunday has Cup, X-Men times 2 and Trucks - X-Men race two times. No practice or qualifying for the three series and not for a long time, it looks like. Look out for rain - It's Florida.

News and Notes
  • Without getting into it, this week has had a lot feelings expressed, both good and bad.
  • Martinsville race penalties - Only a few loose lugnuts for fines.
  • Martinsville pre-race penalties - The #51 of Joey Gase failed pre-race inspection a record 5 times. The team got an L1 penalty worth a bunch of money, points and suspensions.
  • Johnny Sauter - After having a tire fail a dunk test after the Atlanta Truck race and being DQ'ed, it was expected the team would be hit with a big L1 penalty. Nascar decided not to further penalize the team other than the DQ and last place finish.
  • Fans, there are fans, 1000 service member will be attending the Cup race on Sunday.
  • I saw something about practice and qualifying earlier in the week, I'll be darned if I find it. Basically, no practice or qualifying for the foreseeable future.
  • Jimmy Johnson is the Grand Marshall for Sunday. Not Jimmie Johnson, but Jimmy Johnson.
  • TV ratings - Martinsville earned a 1.14 overnight rating for Wednesday's night race, up from a 0.98 for Charlotte's midweek race, though that event dealt with rain.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • Martinsville was won by Fasteddie370 by only 2 points over FlaCowboy. Eddie broke Cowboy's winning streak and gets this weeks :first: Congrats Fasteddie.
  • 64osby is still our overall leader, but Tiz is only 3 points behind after Martinsville and knocking more than 30 points off of 64's lead.
  • Race rosters lock at 3:50 PM EST on Sunday.

Good luck racers;

Humpty

Still haven't found the stuff about when practice and qualifying may resume, but Nascar just announced that the previously scheduled practice for Talladega is not going to happen.

Nascar statement;

After further discussion w/ our race teams, the decision was made to eliminate the practice session originally scheduled for Talladega.We feel current format is working well for the industry & has created competitive racing, along w/ several efficiencies

Maybe practice will never return this year based on the wording. :noidea:

X-Men are up at 3:30, followed 4 hours later by the Truck race. X-man are on FOX and Trucks are on FS1 if weather doesn't interfere.

Start of the race was delayed when stuff fell out of Briscoes car. It wasn't tungsten weights. Whew!

Under a competition caution and at lap 24.

Kyle Busch will start at rear for start of truck race, have a pass-through and team will be docked 10 points for violating the rule requiring a maximum of one track bar mount frame support and a maximum of one track bar mount lateral support.

:tsk:

Competition caution restart results in a bunch of mangled trucks. It looked like Elliott was spun and set it off.

Creed came to pit road little late, missed the entrance and smacked the water barrels in front of the pit wall. What a spray of water! Red flag to fix the barrels and de-water the pavement.

Looking at slo-mo, the barrels are sand filled, not water.

X-Men on FS1 at Noon for a Dash 4 Cash race. The eligible drivers going for the 100 Grand are Hemric, Gragson, Haley and Allmendinger. The Dinger is starting at the rear for a driver change from yesterday's race and Gragson is there too for unapproved adjustments. TWT started last the in Truck race and won in a shorter race, so there is hope.

During warmup laps in the X-Race yesterday Briscoe dropped stuff on the track and caused a short delay in the start. It wasn't tungsten weight like Hamlin a few weeks ago at the start of a Cup race, it was lead ballast blocks and the penalty is the same - 4 race suspensions of crew member like Hamlin's team starting today. :eek:

iFL roster locks at 3:50 EST if you need to work on it. Making picks without practice and qualifying is a crap shoot. No Cup pre-race inspection reports yet.

Sieg wins the the 1st X-heat. The Dinger has worked his way to 13th after starting at the back and Gragson has also move up from the back to 5th. The other two Cashers, Hemric and Haley are in 8th and 9th.

Only one Cup inspection with 2 flunks - #00 of Houff will start at the rear.

Gragson wins heat #2 after starting at the rear.

And keeps the lead until just before the white flag when Cindric wrecks. Briscoe was closing, now they will be side by side for OT. Both pit and Briscoe is off first, A nail biter!

Didn't make a lap on the restart - Yellow. Looked like Herbst lost air on the spoiler and drifted up into Cindric.

OT #2 with Briscoe leading trying to win and Gragson in 3rd trying for the win and 100 Grand.
