End of the regular Cup season with the playoffs starting next week at Vegas. The Whining Twerp clinched the Cup regular season at Darlington. X-Men still have two races left in their regular season, Indy and Vegas.

14 Cup drivers have clinched playoff spots, either with wins or on points. 4 drivers are after 2 remaining playoff spots still up for grabs, so those 4 will be chasing points if they can't win and a new winner doesn't pop up.

Today X-Men have two practices and qualify for their Saturday race tomorrow. Cup has two practices tomorrow and qualify Sunday morning. Kind of an odd schedule for Cup with same day qualifying. Here is the MRN schedule;

News and Notes
  • TWT is making his final X-Race start of the season at Indy. Too bad it took so long!
  • Nascar still has no Cup sponsor with Monster's deal ending this year. From Jayski - They are working on possiblde deals with brands including A-B, Coke, Geico, Comcast, Monster, per sources; NASCAR is also chasing a telco. The Monster name surprises me unless Monster only wants to cut back from sole naming rights.
  • Erik Jones had no firm plans and Gibbs was noncommittal about next year. After winning last week, Joe Gibbs says Jones "has a deal with us”, what ever that means.
  • TV ratings - The rain delayed Darlington 500, delayed so bad I fell asleep during the final heat, got a 1.3 rating, down from last year's on time 1.5.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • Win number 5 for FlaCowboy at Darlington. Will he let the rest of us play? :D Congrats, Cowboy. :first:
  • Cowboy pulled ahead with a nice lead in the overall standings, too. Now 66 points!
  • The pole locks at 10:30AM Sunday morning and race rosters lock at 2:15.

Good luck,

Humpty

It was just confirmed that Jones will still be with Gibbs next year during the X-men practice.

I think Gibbs feels he was burned by Joey Logano. He let him get away after 2 wins over 4years and he's won 21 with Penske and a Championship since 2013.

Kyle Larson fastest in opening Cup practice followed by 1 2 9 43 14 88 12 48 24.

5 fastest in final practice - Menard Stenhouse Jones Buescher and Matt D.

After the red flag came out to end the practice session, Hamlin hit the wall during the cool down lap. His car caught fire and he stopped and bailed as he came to the pit road entrance. He will start at the rear tomorrow in his backup.

X-Men at 3 o'clock with TWT on the the X-Pole. iFL pole locks at 10:30 tomorrow morning.

I think the Captain told Joey, you need to calm down and learn to drive the car and not try to beat the other guys on the track, he was a good talent when he hit the circuit, now he is a great talent that has developed nicely working for Penske..

Harvick takes the Indy pole. The rest of the top 10 are Menard, Bowyer, Joey, Johnson, Keso, TWT. Big Bro, Blaney and Almirola.

Rosters lock at 2PM with a revised race start at 2:05. So far only Hamlin is starting at the rear after his fire yesterday.

Harvick has lead 24 of 25 laps. Chastain led one lap during the yellow flag pit stops. 1st heat is 50 laps.

2nd caution for Cassil hitting the wall, not once but twice and both times hard. So hard the roof buckled!

Lead lap cars pit. Except Joey and Newman peal to the right at the last second and stay out.

Johnson takes 2 tires and is 1st out of the pits.

Joey, Newman and J are 1, 2, 3 on the restart. Newman and JJ are fighting for the final 2 playoff spots. 5 laps left in the heat.

2 laps to go and Keso and Jones wipe out bad! Jones car ends at the rear window from backing into the wall and Keso's car ends up on the inside tire wall on it's side.

Heat 1 finishes under caution. Joey wins it and Newman then Johnson are 2nd and 3rd.

Rebuilding the tire wall after Keso destroyed it with his car. His car is destroyed, too. Jones and Keso are done, as well as Cassill from his roof buckler.

Red flag until the tires are back in place.

It looks like The Whining Twerp blew his motor and oiled the track for a yellow. Pit road and the pits may be oiled, too.

Johnson took the lead when stop began just before. Halfway through the 2nd heat.

On the restart it's Harvick for about 3/4's of a lap before a debris caution. 4 laps left in the 2nd heat.
