2014 Evinrude KNOCKING sound

2014 Evinrude E-Tec, 90hp H.O. 2 stroke.
Engine runs flawlessly - just had it out full throttle and trolling for over an hour. Shifted just fine, no stalling or stuttering. No smoke, no overheating, no check engine lights, no nothing. Runs perfect. I'm baffled to what this knocking is.

Pulled plugs and they are black(fouled) and I noticed there is oddly some oil on/in the inside of the air intake box. Other than that engine is running perfectly.

Any thoughts?! Thanks!

Well your motor is not running perfectly.

Try the E-tec web site at barnacle bills.

Sounds like a loose sparkplugs but probably an injector or something. Don't run the motor until you get it figured out.

I'm hoping it's something loose or simple like maybe the exhaust or flywheel etc...
Spark plugs were tight and correctly indexed. Crazy, I'm telling you this thing runs like a top no issues.
Yes, I'm definitely dropping this thing off to get checked out.

seems strange .... just my humble opinion...ETEC oil is directly injected inside the engine and none in the fuel for your model (early ETEC had "oil in fuel injection" but stopped around 2008)

faulty reed valve maybe ??

check the crankcase oil recirculation in case excess oil is pooling in the engine.

Kinda hope so...sounds to hard a knock to be reed but who knows

More of a velocity pop than knock , sort like a hand slapping on end of empty paper towel roll. Pull air box,start on hose see if noise is coming from throttle plates

You saying that's what it sounds like to you? The heck would cause that if so

Try what was posted...doesn't cost you anything but a lil fuel and water. If noise is from intake its reed or loose block
