Hi, first post here and could use some help. Just picked up a 2005 boat with penta Sx-m that is cracked and grenaded. Got it pretty cheap and was looking for a replacement outdrive for it and the exact pn is hard to find. I've heard another sx drive will work as long as ratio is the same. Can someone confirm or debunk this for me please? Eyeing a sx cobra to put on if it will work that is much cheaper and easier to find. Thanks in advance for any help.

SX-m is a joint venture drive, should have an ID tag on it with the part number for the drive

Correct but this pn is hard to find, will another pn or model work?

I would think as long as everything matches up with the transom shield and its the correct ratio should be good to go.

Check ebay. They generally have a good selection of rebuilt and used units available. Gear ratio is important, but double check the new/old mating surfaces to make sure they line up.
