Hi, I am thinking of getting one of those boats around 2002 to 2006 in age mostly for fishing, tubing in Southeast Florida. Which one would you recommend? Are they too old? Thanks so much for your advice!

The Key West should be all composite hull, however can have saturated foam and other structural issues

I would get a 2006 or later if looking at sea hunt

Beyond that, go thru the ckecklist

Going of shore in a 17' boat is a crap shoot . How far is offshore ? 10 miles ,20 miles or more ? Unless the water is glass and you've been sitting under a high pressure system for days , I wouldn't venture more than a few miles from shore in a 17' ,unless it was a Whaler ,for obvious reasons .

More about how the boat was stored, used and maintained than the name plate on the hull. I have a neighbor that bought a new boat in 2015....already trashed and has a bad motor, but the hull looks very nice from the outside !!
