I have twin Bravo's 220Hp ,only 160 hours on them. The port engine had been running flawlessly until this year, the starboard has been a nightmare. I have had coil problems which prevent the boat from turning over.Just last week the starboard engine died,my mechanic said it was the the ignition coil, well the port engine wont start, and it sounds like the same problem. This has been happening for 2 summers .Does anyone else have this problem or maybe it is my mechanic ??? :( [*]Bravo Ignition Coil

I would look very carefully at the batteries you are useing and the cable that delivers that voltage to your engines. Is that voltage making a long run,say more than 20 feet?

Thanks for the reply , no it is less than 10 feet.It is a 28ft Denali and it was brand new when I bought it.I see some of the other message boards talk about coil issues with Mercruiser engines.

The issue that you may be refering to is not about coils ,but about ignition sensors. This is again about a low voltage or erratic voltage supply. If you have had to replace an ignition sensor,in your distributor, then you need to look closely at how your batteries are rigged and the kinds you are useing.Coils have nothing to do with either engine turning over.Poor voltage will fry that ignition sensor and if you don't have the voltage, or if that voltage is interupted by loose or dirty connections, you will also be hard to start or not crank .Check the battery connections and clean them till they shine, then get rid of the wing nuts and put some nyloc nuts on those terminals.
