I recently purchased a 2009 Tahoe Q4 and it has two 'drain' plugs on the backside transom. One has the brass insert I presume is the main drain plug, but not sure on the other. The 2nd one is black but has threads on the inside. We tried to launch last week but took on water and came back up. We did not have an extra plug with us so no way to test, and without a manual we are stuck. It is a ski boat and not a fishing so no live well I am aware of. Would love help. Afraid to take it out again until I know. #Frustrated #FirstTimI/OOwner

the brass one was added by the prior owner.

the brass one has the lanyard connected to the motor drain hose

plastic one would have a plastic plug with an o-ring

you may want to stick your head in the bilge and look why someone added a second drain.

get a plug for both

Good point. I will see if I can see from the inside where it goes. Is pretty stock so would be surprised if was added. A grandfather bought for his grandkids but they did not use it so sold it to me.

Whoever sealed around those drain ports did a **** poor job of it that's for sure.

My neighbor has a q4 and I think his has a second drain from a transom cooler in that area .

And if the transom cooler drain line was broken or missing, water would come in quickly. Stick a garden hose in there and see where water comes from.

I have a Tahoe Q6 that I bought new in 2006 and it had the same setup from the factory. Well, without the crappy caulking job. The brass one is to change (empty) the engine oil. The black one is the main drain for the bilge. Haven't looked in awhile but they used to sell the black plugs at Bass Pro.

I have a 08 Tahoe Q6s. And as Tim stated, the brass is a plug with a lanyard attached to it that is attached to a hose connected to the engine so the engine oil can easily and quickly drained when changing the engine oil. If you pull on it and nothing is attached on the other end, then that means you’re going to have a hell of a time changing the oil

One is the second option to drain oil. There should be a line inside laying loose with brass fittings.
