Okay, I replaced the engine from poor winterizing, put muffs on outdrive with water hose on, lots of water spraying around muffs, but I remember that being normal till I start it, started it and put into mode to set base timing, set timing. Noticed no water out exhaust, and manifolds were hot, I know that isn't good. Shut it down.

New long block, new circulation water pump, new raw water pump. What am I missing? Thermostat seems to be only servicable with whole housing, stat is way fast up in housing, is it bad?

How sure are you that the inlet and outlet hoses of the raw water pump are right? The upper hose should be the inlet from the outdrive.
If they are backwards, you need a new impeller.
One tip when starting on muffs. After starting always check that you have water flow before doing anything else.

Update, removed thermostat, installed housing without. Still a lot of pressure at bra, very low flow out of housing, to circulation pump, and no flow out of heater hoses to manifolds.....what now?

Don, the upper is feed from drive so that orientation is correct, and impeller is new.

Doesn't matter if the impeller is new, it could be burned up now. Check it.

Re: 1999 larson 233 escape 5.0 GI pwtr no cooling flow

i pulled the raw pump housing, impeller is just like new, put it back together, started engine with water attached, it is drawing water up to the thermostat housing, just not as much as i expected. i was curious so i stuck it in the water, manifolds stayed luke warm to the touch, risers are cold, and temp stayed under 170 the whole time, ran it for a few hours, idling no issues, and running half throttle no problems, was i just being paranoid?

also the thermostat looks more like a pressure check valve, is that its design simply to prevent water from being sucked from manifolds?

Any thoughts on what is going on here?
