Hello all. I'm looking at a '99 Hydra-Sports 230 cc ("Seahorse") with a 99' 225 Johnson (carburated, not ficht). Anybody have experience with this set up? Pros, cons would be helpful. In particular, I can't seem to find a straight answser on cruising speed and max speed. I keep seeing differing reports.

Thanks!

I believe thats the sunbird hull also. I have not heard anything bad,but a rather generic and rather heavy with no kevlar. A healthy 225 omc propped correctly should be adequate power, fuel burn trolling should be 3gph+/- ,cruise maybe 7-10gph and wot around 40mph burning around 23gph.I hope this helps.

I have a 230 walk around. I think your WOT will be a little better than 40. I feel like mine is a little underpowered with a 225. It's rated for a 300.

Re: 1999 Hydra-Sports 230 cc

I have a 2000 230 CC with a Johnson 200. Cruises at 28kts at 4000 RPM WOT 5600 RPM on a flat day 40Kts.

I like the boat, but it has it's problems with spider cracks. All inside the cockpit, nothing structual, just gelcoat cracks in non skid and around stanchions etc.

Other than that it's a good ride.
