My 1998 5.0 TBI starts then dies. I ran it yesterday, the boat ran great for 45 min or so then stumbled a couple of times and died. The boat will start then die immediatly. I would like to check the oil pressure switch, but I have not been able to find it
Thanks in advance

typically found on backside, top of engine block, a little to port side. might check fuel pressure as well. "adults only" sticky has all sorts of troubleshooting tips.

Maxxman is right should be right above oil filter. It will have two wires to it

I found a switch just to the port side of the distributor, comes out of the block vertical on a 90 degree elbow but it has only one wire to it purple w/ pink.

i'm not 100% familiar or sure about your boat, you might be able to find a manual to download in the "ADULTS ONLY" sticky at top of this forum, but it sounds like that's it. however, generally there is a couple wires coming off it. if you can, take a look on the port side of block, down on the side itself, near the oil filter, or where the filter would be in case you have a remote oil system. some engines both marine and automotive use two oil senders. one for the computer/ignition and one for the gauge. this may not be the case for you. a manual will confirm this. hope this helps.

Thanks I will take a look. I have a seloc manual, but have been unable to nail down specifics. I have been looking for an oil pressure switch with two wires I am starting to wonder if it exists in my case? The Mercury manuals are no longer available in the sticky. All help is appreciated.

I have the exact same condition on 1998 Sea Ray 5.0 Alpha 1 210 Bowrider, Carburetor. This thread will likely be a real help as I dive into solution(s).
