I have burnt engine oil leaking from seam on lower unit after I run with muffs. Confirmed it is not lower unit oil. Most of the oil residue comes from seam where lower unit couples with engine. I have heard that it is comon for water to seap from these areas shoud exhaust oil also be seaping.

Most of these engines have a return for unused/unburnt fuel.
It those lines are clogged or have fallen off, that may the problem.

Hope that helps.

burnt oil will exit the exhaust and travel through the motor leg before exiting thru the prop.
It tends to build up and seep out when and where it can.

normal.

Re: 1997 Force 120 HP

I have a 18' Bayliner (1997) with a Force 120 as well and thought my lower end crapped out with the sight of a puddle of petrolium on the floor after a trip out in the sound crabbing all day. I went into the local bayliner dealer asking about gasket kits and explained the issue to the parts guy while a tech happened to be in there. The tech laughed and said it was just from running all day at a low idle (there was about a plate sized puddle of goop under the prop in the garage). Said to take the kids wakeboarding for the day and it should clear it out (and it did). Glad the guy was in there as the counter jockey was ready to sell me a $400.00 rebuild kit for oil buildup in the exaust...
