Hi everyone. I have just purchased a 1996 hydra sport hydra skiff with a Johnson 112 spl. I am trying to find out the model number of this engine. The sticker is faded on the left side of the midsection. What i know is the title say that the engine is a 1997 model, but after my re surch, it looks like 1996 was the last year this engine was manufactured.in 1996 they had 4 different models as far i know.my engine has a 20 inch shaft,power tilt and trim . No vro. On the top of the engine on the freez plug there is some numbers. G3642210. If anyone knows which model i have please help. Thank you so much.

The serial number does not come up in the Bombardier system. You could try to call them at their customer service hotline in Waukegan ill on Monday to get further info. 847-689-7090. Yes, 96 was the last year for the 112 crossflows, so that year is a good bet. They did make a few crossflow 115's into 1997, but not the 112.

Re: 1996 johnson 112 spl.

Hi doityourselfer1. I run a 1997 Evinrude 90 Special; and my model number is E90TSLEUA. Looking at the marineengine.com website for the 1996 year model, and following the same pattern as my own model number, I would guess that yours would be: J112TSLEDR.

I'm not entirely sure. But, I think this is how the model number would break down:
J112 = Johnson 112HP
T = Trim & Tilt
S = "Special" model
L = "long" or 20-inch shaft
EDR = some kind of code for year model

You can look at parts & diagrams for that motor at: 1996 Johnson J112TSLEDR 112 hp Outboard Motor Parts

I hope that gets you in the ball park!
Cheers!
