Just need a quick advice! I have 1991 15 hp low compression powerhead. I found a good 1993 9.9/15 hp power head with 150/145 psi of compression. Could I be able to swap it on my outboard? If not what is the show stopper?

This needs some careful study of the parts book.----The issue might be the shift linkage mounting.--And throttle control / cable mounting.-----Much of the actual blocks is the same with bigger bore / pistons in the 93 model

I think the 91 ignition / flywheel will fit on the 93 model.----Intake from 91 will fit on the 93 block.----Look carefully in the parts book

By the time you get done doing that you could buy a whole other motor. Look on Craigslist 9.9. Motors go for cheap

Yes, you are right! too much work for it. I have study the part list and the crankshaft are the same so using the same lower unit but as other said" recoil and other things are different. So I am focus on looking for a used 77-92 powerhead or a used out 9.9/15. Thanks all for the inputs.

I am in Windsor, Ontario. I am near by Detroit, Michigan so I keep any eye on the Michigan's Marketplace for 9.9 or 15 hp powerhead.
