I recently acquired an 1987 Evinrude 25 HP, and the fuel line connector on the engine (the connection from the primer bulb to the engine) is very tight of a squeeze since the tiller handle is arm is in the way. I am wondering if someone put the connector back in the wrong direction.

As it is now the connector for the fuel line from tank to engine is vertical. Meaning that the two pins are vertical in orientation. Should they be this way or should it be horizontal? Since it is veritical the line from the tank to the engine is hard to get in...

Pictures would help, but it sounds like your fuel line might be old and stiff, it should be quite pliable so you can get it around the tiller handle and route it out of the way.

You are right. Hard to explain. From this picture is the fuel line connector in the right orientation or should it be horizontal?

SO this connection is supposed to be this tight. I have to fight to get them connected. It is hard to see form the pic but the metal is being worn from the gas fitting rubbing so hard against it.

Is your fuel line connector OEM,or after market? Most of these wally world parts sometimes don't fit right.

Not sure. It may be a wally world special. I will check around at a few other marine stores and see if the one I am using is abnormally long. I just figured that they were all standard size
