Just recently purchased motor and it is a good runner, but bad starter. Previous owner just put a new rope start mechanism on it. You have to
pull it 15-20 times to get it to engage. If you remove the cover and push on the silver pin towards the powerhead it will engage. If I tighten
the nut holding the two slotted plates it will engage but then the shifting becomes very difficult if not impossible. Can someone tell me the fix or
adjustment as I do not have a manual. Can this motor be converted to electric start?? Thanks.

Pics please so we know what we are dealing with.
If it is the old recoilstarters mounted beside the flywheeel we are dealing with, they can be a litte tricky to maintain and adjust.
