hello i just bought a boat w/ a force 125 and so far i am pleased with it. starts right up and runs great w/ a little warm up. my question is , sometimes it stalls when shifting into gear. i think the idle is low but not sure. ive looked around at past post for the engine but cant find what im looking for. so if anyone can help and describe an easy fix to turn up idle i would appriciate it. i got the manual on the way but its doing me no good now.
thank you in advance

Re: 1986 force 125 (idle and shifting ?)

MS5712,
This tricked me for a while to. I have an 88 Force 125hp. The idle screw is located on the left right side on the timing shaft at the very bottom, when looking from the back of the engine. It is just below and to the right of the fuel pump mounting. You might also want to check the throttle cables. This is where I found my problem. These are like spring loaded and if they are to loose then you cant get a good idle and still have full throttle. So you want to make sure that they are tight, they twist and have a ball and couple thingy that you must pull off to get the cable off the arm that it is attached to. I think that once you do this you should be much happier. Granted you might need to tweak the idle screw a little bit also though.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox
