1985 mercruser 170 io

my 1985 mercruser 170 is loosing antifreeze, put a new riser and still loosing coolant. Seems to have a blowby that feels like moisture but is running good.. Any feedback would be helpful. thanks mike..

check for freezout plugs for rot they may be leaking from the side of the engine cast holes. Most use brass but some use steel and they can rot out. Just a suggestion

Just do you are aware, there is a MerCruiser section on this board and your post should be there instead of the Mercury and Mariner outboard section.

Ayuh,... Redundant Post...

Pressure test the heat exchanger to find yer leak...

Bond-o is right on. A cooling system pressure test and a engine compression check are in order. You can borrow the tools for both from Autozone. One other thing to check: Pull the seawater (aft) plug on the exchanger and see if there is any antifreeze in the seawater (leaking exchanger). Good luck.
