Having problem with the neutral switch on a 25 H.P. el. start. If I understand this switch is to complete the circuit so the solenoid will work but only complete the circuit if the motor is in neutral. My manual states the space between the switch and the cam is 1/16 inch to be measured with a 1/16 drill bit. My switch works, but the range that it will complete the circuit in is very small. About 1/16 inch or less which don't leave much room for error. Is this the way this switch works or is my switch bad. Thanks.

Sounds like it is working OK. The movement on that switch is very small.
