My friend has a 1978 Mercury 800 after running it for awhile it then dies and it wont idle. You have to start it and run it real high and put in gear and then it still dies sometimes any ideas? Thanks
Check the tank vent and make sure it is open and clear. When it starts to die pump the primer bulb. If it acts like it wants to pick up, rebuild the fuel pump. If that is good you will have to rebuild the carbs.
