Hi Crosby fans! Just bought a 1974 Crosby 16'. I checked it out before buying with a moisture meter and yes, it is wet. Transom and floor.
First question has to do with the VIN #. Found it up at the bow ring where it should be.
The number is 84976. Would this actually make this a 1976 with the last two digits of the vin#? And is 849 the production number?
From another thread, a person had pictures of his top removed, foam carved out all the way to a bare hull. Looks like the transom wood is just in the center. Has anyone ever dug out the rotted wood thru the top? I and leaning toward pouring in SeaCast or Carbon-Core to replace it. I've thought about splitting the top side from the hull but that is quite the job. I may just cut out the floor, carve out the foam, refoam it, new Coosa board and then if possible reglass in the fiberglass floor if I can save it. My boat has a tiny center console so no bench seats are in the way.
Any ideas are appreciated.
