I recently became the owner of the subject boat. The hull is in great shape with no spider web cracking. However, it needs a new floor. One of the previous owners attempted to replace a portion of the floor and injected what appears to be insulation foam into the void below the floor line and then it seems he gave up. I have to rip all of that out because it is now water saturated. My question is, when this boat was built was the area below the floor filled with foam or was the inner structure just stringers and cross pieces. Also does anyone have any pictures or brochures of this boat? Thanks very much

USCG required enough flotation foam to float the boat level when swamped. So, yep, under floor flotation is likely.

Pix of your 1973 Old Town?

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Yes, there would have been floatation foam in any voids in the hull,....
You probably have one of the last runabouts Old Town made,.....
The quit making boats, 'n went back to canoes shortly after that time,....

I have one of their flagships, the 25' Atlantis I'm finishing up, the ole Ford/ Stringer drive is gone, 'n the Merc. Bravo drive is mounted, the 350 Chevy is going in, with a jackshaft, to move the motor forward 'bout 18",....
I also picked up a 20' Gull, which is getting a 5.7l / Alpha 1 drive,....

I have a factory sales flyer from about that time, but don't remember where I packed it when I moved,....
If I find it, I suppose I can scan it to post it,....
Or, you could call customer service to see whether they have anymore old brochures they could send you,....
Kelly Nason used to be their historian, but I'm guessin' she has long since retired,....
