1973 Evinrude Fisherman 6 HP runs great at idle, but when I put in forward it loses power, hesitates and farts. It will run like this for a while then it seems to catch and run better for a few minutes, then it farts for a couple of minutes before running good again. I replaced the plugs; one was a nice golden brown, the other was coated with oil. I figure that means it is running on one cylinder. Also has trouble holdimg idle at low throtle. my question is what are my troubleshooting steps?
