Hi everyone, I'm new and I just purchased a 1973 Boston Whaler katama that will need some spider crack repair on the floor, inside of the boat. The outside is ok with just a small nick. I use to restore cars, old mid year vets etc.... so it reminds me of fiberglass work with my dad in the old days at his resto shop. What is the best way to attack the cracks, fill it and maybe gel coat over it? I had an old guy help me today at a boat shop and said, get a dremel grind the crack, fill it and gel coat it, then paint! I hate to start grinding a crack bigger and stressing old fiberglass. Any better ideas out there? Hope you can help and thanks everyone! Oh, your all speaking with a girl who takes pride in her toys, cheers!

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

You'll find lots of Boston Whaler fans here. It would be best to post some pictures of the cracks to get the best advice.

if it's a blue hull, I wouldn't paint it. May be better just to live with the cracks. You can also buy matching patch stuff but it's $30 for a couple ounces.
I just rubbed and buffed out my '63. I may try to rub some of the matching patch into the worse cracks.

continuouswave.com is the whaler resto site.
