Hi-Need to replace/refurbish 1972 18' Holiday rear jump seats. Reupholsters here (Portland OR) charge arm and a leg .However I boats and other online sites don't have any thing close to fit ( too narrow etc. ).Anyone out there have any luck with this kind of replacement ? I don't have the skill for DYI but it may come to that. Thanks

your best bet is to have your seats recovered. however being a 50 year old boat, you may need to completely rebuild them.

not sure what you think a new seat should cost. today, a really good helm seat for a center console boat is about $1500 just the vinyl and labor that goes into a jump seat is about $125. rebuilding what you have will most likely cost you $200 per seat. but it would fit.

Most of those jump seats met a junk pile by the fisherman who bought the boats... FWIW Starcraft used the same seats on all of the tin I/O boats. Nobody really fits into them, except kids. That said, I'm glad that my Offshore V 18 has them along with a completely recovered interior prior to me buying it... Recover is your only option.

there are lots of options around the PDX area, think outside the box and find a gut who does it on the side. you take a risk, but you may pay less. Send me a PM and I can get you contact info for a guy in the Couve I know does side work.

Thanks guys .I wish $200 a seat was an option . So far any quotes were at least double that. The John how do I PM you on this site ?

I’m in the same boat (haha, see what I did there) looking to redo my seats/cushions. I plan to replace the backers with some new ACX ply, seal with epoxy, and see if I can salvage the vinyl covers to use as a template for new replacements. Likely need to find a local upholstery shop to sew things up for me rather than try to fold the corners. Otherwise should be pretty straight forward with the foam and stainless staples. I have considered just swapping it all out with pedestal seating, but I’m waiting to see what it might cost to get the new vinyl sewn up.
