looks like the switch is dead. can anyone direct me to where I can find a new one.

The push button switch is part number 279458, listed as no longer available. Start with your local dealer, he just might have one laying on the shelf. Then try sea-way.com They specialize in obsolete hard to find parts. Don't waste your money on a used one unless you get a guarantee with it. They were a somewhat troublesome part.

I believe your switch you need is actually part number 385253. SeaWay marine in Seattle, Wash has over 10 in stock.
